Buttercream vs Fresh Cream Cakes for Islamabad Weather

Which frosting holds up in the heat, which tastes lighter, and how to choose for the time of year you are celebrating.

Every custom cake we make comes with the same choice: fresh cream or buttercream. It affects taste, how the cake looks and, in Islamabad summers, how well it survives the journey to your door.

Fresh cream

Fresh cream is light, airy and noticeably less sweet. If you find most bakery cakes too rich, this is the one you want. It is our default and it is included in the listed price of every cake on the menu.

The trade-off is stability. Fresh cream softens as it warms, so it is happiest going straight from our fridge to yours, and it does not hold sharp piped detail for long in the heat.

Buttercream

Buttercream is firmer and richer. It holds piped borders, rosettes and vintage detail crisply, takes colour more cleanly, and copes far better with warm rooms and longer journeys. It adds Rs. 300 per pound.

If your cake is going to sit out during a party, travel any distance, or carry detailed decoration, buttercream is usually the safer answer.

Choosing by season

Through the hotter months, and for any outdoor celebration, we lean towards recommending buttercream. In cooler weather, or when a cake is going straight into a fridge nearby, fresh cream is lovely and worth choosing for the lighter taste.
